For the penultimate installment of Ephemera, I chose to compose a piece for a percussion ensemble using only metal instruments—gongs, singing bowls and bells. After spending two days immersed in these sounds, I had a dream where I encountered an older version of myself, looking decrepit and weary. Upon abruptly awakening, I glimpsed the silhouette of the older me sitting beside my bed.
